  • Description

    Wedding dress worn by Miss H. McMath at her wedding in 1879 or 1880 at Cambridge, New Zealand. The dress was made at Rattrays, Queen Street, Auckland.

    The dress is made from cream satin with a bustle and train. The bodice long and fitted with a high banded neck. There is a front opening with buttons. The long sleeves are cuffless. The back shaping falls to tabs over the top of the bustle. The skirt is swathed below the hips with tiered pleating below the bustle at the back finishing in small train edged with cotton machine-made lace. The whole dress is lined.
