  • Jane Winstone was the daughter of Arthur George Winstone and Lina Storme Clapham, of Wanganui

    Fiance of Angus Carr MacKenzie (NZ404491) lost on an operation in the Atlantic in 1942.

    She took up flying at the age of 16 and flew solo at age 17. She also met her fiance through the Wanganui Aero Club.

    In 2005 a retirement village in Wanganui was named in memory of "one of New Zealand's greatest aviators" the Jane Winstone Retirement Village. AWMM
