Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum’s popular after-hours singles events return this October, offering two evenings designed for guests to experience the Museum after-dark and meet new people in a relaxed, social atmosphere.

Mingle at the Museum returns on Wednesday 8 October, and Mingle at the Museum: Pride Edition on Thursday 9 October, a night especially for LGBTTQIA+ community.

On arrival, guests will receive a name badge and a welcome from the evening’s MC, who will guide them through optional activities and entertainment throughout the night. Legendary “icebreaker” hosts will help bring people together with quizzes, bingo, sketching the Museum collection, “double dates,” and more.

Both events will feature DJ sets from DJ Marjorie Sinclair, a Brazilian-born queer music icon who has helped shape Aotearoa’s nightlife over the past 16 years. Her sets blend Tropical, Brazilian beats with Afro House, Hip-hop, and Afro beats, delivering vibrant and high-energy performances.

Also included is entry to DIVA, the spectacular international exhibition direct from London’s V&A. Featuring over 50 looks rarely seen by the public, DIVA showcases costumes worn by some of the world’s most iconic performers, some from their own collections.

Highlights include Maria Callas’ stage ensemble as Norma (1952), Marilyn Monroe’s fringed black dress from Some Like it Hot (1959), and the only known surviving dress worn by silent film star Clara Bow. Visitors can also see Bob Mackie designs worn by Tina Turner, P!nk and Cher; Elton John’s Louis XIV–inspired 50th birthday costume with a towering, powdered wig and train, designed by Sandy Powell; and Shirley Bassey’s couture pink gown by Julien MacDonald, complete with diamanté-studded wellington boots, worn at Glastonbury in 2007.

Tickets are $45 per person, with a 10% discount available for Auckland Museum members.
