This list brings together records of Ngāti Maniapoto service personnel. Its scope is across conflicts from the South African Wars to more recent operations, but coverage is evolving and not yet complete.

The World War I component of this list is based on the research published in Ngāti Maniapoto Ōpe Taua 1914–1918 (McClintock, Turner, Searancke, Manawaiti, and Meredith, 2024). The publication records 106 Ngāti Maniapoto hōia and was led by Dr Kahu McClintock, mokopuna of 16/488 Private Paraone H. Whanonga Thomas Wahanui. A further 29 names were later added to the pou kara at Te Kūiti Pā, Tokanganui-a-Noho, honouring those not listed on the original 1919 memorial.

Hari Hēmara Wahanui and his whānau played a central role in recruiting Ngāti Maniapoto soldiers for the first Māori Contingent at Avondale Camp in 1914. Despite Crown conscription policies applied to Waikato–Maniapoto, many enlisted voluntarily, serving with courage and distinction overseas.

The list is a work in progress. Please contact the Online Cenotaph team if you are aware of Ngāti Maniapoto service personnel not yet represented.
