Dr Wanda Ieremia-Allan

Dr Wanda Ieremia-Allan (Sapapali'i, Fusi Safotulafai, Sāoluafata, Lalomanu, Matautu-Falealili-Samoa) is the Associate Curator Documentary Heritage (Pacific Collections). Her varied research interests include the reggae construction of the Pacific Island Rasta identity, the politics of political music and the epistemological tensions inherent in early 19th and 20th century Samoan and Pacific London Missionary Society periodicals. She is a member of the Australian Association of Pacific Studies, New Zealand Historical Association, and the Pacific History Association. She is research fellow for the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP), the Polynesian Society, and a visiting fellow at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge.

O le Sulu Samoa

ʻSulu’ means ʻtorch’ or ‘light’ in Samoan. Published primarily in the Samoan language by the London Missionary Society from 1839, early issues of the Sulu are rare and difficult to access today with holdings largely held in archives outside Samoa.
