What were the New Zealand Wars and why are these events important to understanding our city and nation today? Join curators Nigel Borell and Rowan Light as they discuss these questions, and more, in this in-gallery talk at Atarau: Stories of the New Zealand Wars. Using objects and taonga, including contemporary work by both Māori and Pākehā artists, Nigel and Rowan will share stories of the different perspectives and experiences from the wars – especially those not well recognised in public life – to explore the importance of these histories and why they matter today.
