Top Tips

Want to snap the perfect photo? Here are some tips and tricks:

Respect the Wildlife
- Keep a safe distance, you don’t want to chase or scare any animals.
- Let animals act naturally, the best pictures come when you are patient and still.
- Respect their homes. Remember you are a visitor in their space.

Get Down Low
- Try kneeling or even lying down on the ground so you are eye level with the animals.
- Photos are more exciting when you can see the world from the same point of view as the animal.

Tell a Story
- Catch animals while they are eating, playing, or even resting.
- Ask yourself, “What is the animal doing right now?”

Take Lots of Photos
- Really good photographers (like the ones whose photos are selected for Wildlife Photographer of the Year) take lots and lots of photos. Then they can pick their favourite one!

Have fun!
- Enjoy getting out amongst nature and observing all the wonderful creatures that call our local areas home.
