Bring the tamariki, the grandparents, or your mates. Everyone's invited to enjoy a free day out at your Museum. 

Wander through worlds past and present, and pop back as often as you'd like for more. Auckland Museum is always free for Auckland residents, and open to visit 364 days a year.

Simply visit our ticket desks with your MyMuseum card or proof of Auckland address and we’ll issue your free General Admission tickets. Proof of address can be a library card or utility bill, for example. 

Our doors are open, with countless discoveries to be made. So round up the whānau, pack some curiosity, and come say hi.

We have galleries open across all three floors of the Museum, with something for everyone to enjoy.

Facilities and amenities

 

  • Our Kai Room is open, if you'd like space to sit and have your own food and drink during your Museum visit.
  • Tuitui Museum Bistro & Café and 1929 Espresso Bar are open daily, serving up a menu of tasty meals for the whole family, and cabinet food for a quick bite.
  • Our secure underground car park is open (charges apply), with direct access to Te Ao Mārama South Atrium, where you can get your free tickets and start your visit. There's also some free car parking in the Auckland Domain and on some streets around the Museum, with time limits applied. 
  • There are plenty of public transport options to get to the Museum. Find out more about getting here and parking.
